Just five years ago, my world flipped upside down. I was 28 weeks pregnant when the pandemic hit and then out of nowhere, I was handed a redundancy notice. Suddenly, the stability I thought I had was gone and panic set in about how I’d support my growing family during what felt like the toughest time.
That was the push I desperately needed. From my couch, with just my phone and laptop, I started something I’d been dreaming about: Assist By Sara. It began as a necessity but has grown into a thriving six-figure business that works around my life, not the other way around.
I am on a mission to help other women, especially mums, build their confidence to start their own VA business. I want to empower them to create their dream lives without sacrificing anything—because if I can do it, why can’t you too!

I now have 2 beautiful children (2 & 4), I am a wife and we have 3 businesses, including my husband Tim’s own business, Luxe Electrical Industries, which is thriving on the Sunshine Coast, offering quality electrical services.
We are super excited to announce our newest business venture (the 3rd one I mentioned above) —a co-working space specifically designed for working parents located on the Sunshine Coast - Nook Collective. It’s the ultimate spot for parents, complete with a babysitting service, content studios, podcast recording room and a meeting room to meet with clients. You can work and create, knowing your little ones are close by.
This is something I wish I had when raising my babies, as being a sole trader can sometimes feel lonely and it can be difficult to manage your work schedule in between naps, feeds, nappy changes and everything else that comes with being a parent.
So I have created this to again empower more parents to continue their business dreams and gain time for themselves and their families.
If I can do this, so can you. It just takes that first step! Yes investing in yourself and your business is scary but it is necessary.
